Holy Communion

Sacramental preparation is a sacred and essential part of a child’s formation in the Catholic faith, as the sacraments are true encounters with Jesus Christ.

To receive the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion, children must be enrolled in a Catholic religious education program, Catholic school, or an approved Catholic homeschooling curriculum both in the year of reception—typically second grade—and the year prior. Faithful participation in Sunday Mass and Holy Days of Obligation is also a vital part of preparing to receive the sacraments worthily.

Parents of older children who have not yet received these sacraments are encouraged to contact the parish office to begin the process of preparation.
